Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Half-witch, half-human Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka), first introduced in Archie comics, is caught between two worlds: her life as a teen at Baxter High in Greendale, and her legacy as the daughter of a very powerful warlock. She not only fights her own inner demons — and sometimes succumbs to temptation — she actually goes up against actual demons. While struggling with her dual nature, Sabrina is also smashing the patriarchy at every opportunity.

The Umbrella Academy

This Netflix original is based on the Dark Horse comics series about an inexplicable event where 43 infants are born at the same time to random women who were not pregnant the day before. Seven of the children are adopted by an eccentric billionaire who discovers their special abilities and begins training them to save the world. It shares some of Captain Marvel’s DNA in the way it deals with suppressing powerful women and being manipulated by people who supposedly care about you.

The OA

Created and written by Brit Marling, who also is the lead, The OA is about Prairie Johnson, a blind woman who reappears seven years after going missing. Now in her late 20s, she returns with her sight restored. While some see her as a miracle, others view her as a threat … especially since she can open portals to other dimensions.
